Police officers in Lagos State, Nigeria, were forced to back down after a human rights activist, Harrison Gwamnishu, challenged a colleague who had stopped a car he was riding in to search it.

According to Harrison, he was driving when a police officer pulled him over and asked what he did for a living.

Harrison responded that he had no right to ask him that question, but that he did have the right to conduct his stop and search. This enraged the officer, who ordered him to exit the vehicle.

When Harrison got down, the officer asked him again, and Harrison said he had no right to ask him what he did for a living.

At this point, a senior officer (shown above) stepped in and intervened. He apologized to Harrison and permitted him to continue his journey.
