The drama was recorded after some residents of Ayimensa, Kweiman, Danfa, and La Nkwantanang in the Madina Constituency in the Greater Accra Region, clashed with Police on Monday and when the police attempted to arrest the MP for masterminding the protest, the demonstrators shielded him.

The MP and the youth embarked on a Fix Our Roads demonstration to press home their demand for better roads in the area. The demonstration started from Damfa through Kweiman to the Ayi Mensah Toll both.

Francis Sosu told Atinka FM that his car had developed faults due to the manner in which the Police wanted to arrest him. According to the lawmaker, the Police were determined to arrest him in a lawless manner.

“The stalemate that occurred was the time the Police were attempting to physically arrest me and if that had not happened that would have been the end of the demonstration. Even when the youth resisted and placed me in my car, the police who were bent on arresting me surrounded my car.

Obviously what they were doing was lawless since Article of the 117 of the constitution says the Police has no right to arrest a member of Parliament in the line of his duty,” Lawyer Sosu told Kaakyire Ofori Ayim.

Asked if he was conducting parliamentary duties during the demonstration, lawyer Sosu answered in the affirmative adding that he was part of the demonstration in his capacity as a member of Parliament.
