Police have launched an investigation into the death of a final-year student at Tweneboah Kodua Senior High School in the Ashanti region’s Sekyere-Kumawu District.
Edward Duut, 19, is accused of scaling a wall to avoid a routine check by a Prep Master, but he landed on the ground with his chest, injuring himself on Monday around 11 p.m.
He died later at the nearby Kumawu Polyclinic after being rushed there by the headmaster and some students.
According to Nhyira News, Edward attempted to jump the wall with some of his colleagues.
When their teacher, Gideon Osei, also known as ‘Ogidi,’ arrived at 8:40 p.m., the students who were supposed to be studying in the classrooms ran helter-skelter.
According to sources, the deceased had just awoken from a nap and attempted to avoid the teacher, but ended up injuring himself.
At 1:00 a.m., he was rushed to Kumawu Polyclinic, where he was pronounced dead.
DSP Opoku Agyeman Prempeh of the Sekyere- Kumawu District Police Commander tells Nhyira FM that no one has been arrested in connection with the death because police have taken statements from teachers at the school.
“No one was chosen as a suspect. However, when we gather statements from them, what is hidden will be revealed,” DSP Agyemang added.
Meanwhile, investigations into the death of the General Arts final year student from Ejura in the Ashanti region are ongoing.
